Exciting staff updates! Caleb Hurley has been accepted into the MLIS program at the iSchool; Cassandra Hradil joins us as Assistant Director for Teaching + Pedagogy.
This semester brought exciting news for our team!
Join us in celebrating our Public Arts & Humanities Associate, Caleb Hurley! He has been accepted into the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program at the College of Information (iSchool) where he plans to focus on archives and digital curation. Since joining AADHum in summer 2023, Caleb has worked with Dr. Jeffrey Moro as a teaching assistant for Archaeologies of Gaming and Electronic Literature and supported our office operations - including prompting our wall robot to draw a spirographic image of Nina Simone! He has also helped facilitate workshops, including our creative computing workshop at Hyattsville Library in October 2024, which you can read more about here. We are excited to continue building out our newest extended reality workshop with Caleb, and we know he will be stellar in his new program.

We also welcome the newest member to the AADHum team, Cassandra Hradil! Cassandra is our new Assistant Director for Teaching and Pedagogy. Her love and incredible knack for finding practical and creative ways to make data and computation more approachable has already been invaluable to our team. They have taught students and colleagues how to solder (check out one of our new favorite projects around the lab, the Space Girl Badge!), how to make DIY block prints with Legos, and how to weave patterns on a loom. If you see Cassandra, ask about the miniature laser cut Christmas tree and soldered lights that she and Alice Bi collaborated on at our holiday maker party!
