We are dipping in to tell you about an exciting student opportunity we are piloting this semester: the Social Media Corps (SMC) fellowship program

Our SMC program trains undergraduate and graduate students to produce digital artifacts for social media. This is an arts and humanities program focused on critical making, very much aligned with AADHum's commitment to extending conceptual learning opportunities into material practices. To facilitate participation in this pilot program, we are offering a $750 stipend.

Among other things, students will be introduced to a variety of design skills, while also learning how to identify, characterize, and share humanities arguments out of live events. It is our hope that this program will increase student comfort in actively engaging various scholarly communities. We will also explore best practices around privacy, safety, consent, and social media boundaries. If they so desire, students will also have an opportunity to develop a social media portfolio.

Here are some details for applicants:

  • applications are available now
  • due Thurs. March 11, 2021 at 11:30pm
  • participants will receive a $750 stipend
  • the SMC program runs 3/22 - 5/10
  • expect approx. 7 hours of combined synchronous / asynchronous was commitment per week

Please feel free to share this program with your networks. Currently enrolled students at any U.S. institution are welcomed to apply, though some priority will be given to applicants from the UMD system and other regional colleges and universities.
